A taxi squad is a set of extra roster slots in a dynasty league where managers stash developmental players — usually rookies and young prospects — without those players counting against the normal roster limit. It’s the fantasy version of an NFL practice squad: a place to hold upside you can’t yet start.

The catch every league writes down is eligibility. On Sleeper the commissioner sets the maximum years of experience a player can have to qualify — anywhere from one to four years, or “no max” — plus a toggle for whether non-rookies are allowed on the taxi at all. Players also can’t be added straight to the taxi; they route through the active roster or bench first.

Because taxi rules decide who can be hidden and who must be exposed, they’re a recurring source of “is this legal” disputes — one more reason dynasty leagues lean on a documented rulebook.
